‘Cause and effect’ – everything does happen for a reason………

Nothing happens by chance. Every action has a reaction or consequence “We reap what we sow”. Ralph Waldo Emerson said the Law of Cause and Effect is the “law of laws”.
The law of cause and effect states that every cause has an effect and every effect becomes the cause of something else.
Cause – The reason why something happened
Effect – What happened because of something else.
Whilst problem solving is taught in schools, we can only really see this skill being taught in mathematics where we all know that there is only one right answer to every mathematical problem.
Unfortunately, schools are not teaching the valuable lesson of cause and effect which impacts us on everyday problems. Everyday problems occur both at home and work.
The French philosopher Voltaire – François-Marie Arouet – (1694 – 1778) said that: words like luck, chance and coincidence were invented to express the known effects of the unknown causes.
Some problems we wish to resolve can be quite simple and linear and others can be complex and non-linear. That’s why at PRS we deliver structured Root Cause Analysis training using both the principles of 5 whys and cause and effect and attribute either technique based on the impact of ‘each problem.
With a structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) program in place and a definitive process of analysis, the RCA begins to track the cause and effects back to the root cause(s), and with these identified we then need to eliminate, change or control the causes by means of an effective solution(s).
